Bengali filmmaker Agnidev Chatterjee on his film 'Dark Chocolate'!
When the news about Sheena
Bora' murder case came out in public domain, the entire nation was shaken to
the core. The gruesomeness of the crime was of such magnitude that it managed
to hog the limelight on news channels and newspaper for weeks without break. To
cash on the sensationalism of the crime, a number of filmmakers announced films
on the horrific murder case, one of them being Agnidev Chatterjee, one of the
finest filmmakers the soil of Bengal has produced. His film ‘Dark Chocolate’ is
in the final leg of its post production and will hit screens soon. In an
exclusive interview with Mohnish Singh, Mr Chatterjee talks about his film,
cast and much more.
Please, tell us something
about your film Dark Chocolate?
The film is inspired by the real
life murder mystery of Sheena Bora, who was the daughter of media barons
Indrani Mukherjea and Peter Mukherjea. Though it is a subject which everyone
knows about, our film is going to be gripping and intriguing like any other
suspense thriller movie. In the film, Mahima Chaudhary plays the role of
Indrani Mukerjea and Riya Sen will be seen as the victim and Indrani's daughter
Sheena Bora.
As we know Mahima Chaudhary
and Riya Sen are playing central characters in your film. So, how was your
experience working with them?
It was a wonderful experience
working with both the actresses. Both of them are very professional and get
into the skin of the character so easily. It was a delight working with them.
They understood my vision easily and translated it onscreen exactly the way I
wanted.
As a subject matter for your
film, you have taken up a case which has already created a lot of controversy
off late. Don’t you think the film will be surrounded by a lot more controversy
around its release?
That is something we too know
is going to happen. But we will deal with the situation when it arrives. Right
now my entire focus is on its post production and promotions.
When the film is releasing?
Our film is releasing on 2nd
of September.
Is it a multilingual film?
The film has been made in
Bengali and Hindi simultaneously.
Where have you shot the film?
We have shot our film in
Mumbai, Kolkata and at several other places.
