Shuddha Desi Romance Or Zanjeer?

You could not ask for more when you come to know that the coming Friday is going to offer you two different movies, starring two of your favorite actors from the filmdom. I have got all the right reasons to wait for the day with bells on my toes. Priyanka Chopra, one of my favorite actresses, will spell her magical charm in Zanjeer while Sushant Singh Rajput is all set to woo the audience again with his uniquely titled rom-com Shuddha Desi Romance.

Priyanka Chopra is appearing on the screen after a bout of some personal losses. She lost her father some months back. After accomplishing some international commitments, the lady is back with a bang. Zanjeer, being her first mass release after the critically acclaimed Barfi!, is expected to witness a huge opening this Friday. One of the most appealing reasons that will surely attract the audience to the cinema halls is that Zanjeer is a remake of the 1973 classic Zanjeer which starred legendary actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bahaduri in the lead. On the other side, after mesmerizing the audience with a stellar performance in Kai Po Che!, Sushant Singh Rajput will put the Thames of fire to arrest the attention of maximum audience with his Yash Raj release Shuddha Desi Romance.

In Shuddha Desi Romance, Sushant Singh Rajput is paired opposite Parineeti Chopra, cousin of Priyanka Chopra. Comparisons are expected to be drawn when two sisters will compete with each other in two different films hitting the silver screen on the same date. I am all excited to see who eventually wins the race. No doubt Parineeti Chopra is very talented in all departments, but she cannot hold a candle to her cousin Priyanka Chopra. It will take her sometime to polish her skills before she acquires what Priyanka has got in her career. 

So, what would be the fate of these two most-awaited releases? If I go by my instinct, it may be a win-win situation for both the films. Their genre is different and so is the audience they are going to cater. Aside from that, Priyanka has her own loyal fan base and Parineeti, who is just two films old, has carved her own space in the filmdom to ensure a decent opening.

But what seems to be the plus point with Shuddha Desi Romance might be a minus point with Zanjeer-the leading male actors in both films. Ram Charan Teja, who will reprise Amitabh Bachchan’s role in the new Zanjeer, may have good fan following down south, but he is a complete unknown face in the markets from where Hindi films earn significant amount of their revenue. Much to the chagrin of Zanjeer’s makers, Sushant Singh Rajput and his rising popularity will do its own wonder at the Box Office. Audience has faith in him and no one can doubt his acting prowess. He has not always got what he wanted on a platter. Sushant has given his sweat and blood in reaching where he stands today. His last release garnered lot of appreciation for his from all quartered and the audiences as well as the critics want this young lad to translate the same success with his new release. 

It will be interesting to note which film fulfills the expectations of the audience. As far as my choice is concerned, I may go for the Shuddha Desi Romance first and then, if got enough time, for Zanjeer. What if I don’t know Ram Charan Teja, I can watch Zanjeer only for Priyanka Chopra!
