Bollywood 100 Crore Club
Bollywood's 100 Crore
Club became talk of the town ever since some Indian films garnered
Rs. 100 Crore or more than that at the Indian Box Office. This
coveted club includes all those Bollywood films that
successfully earns 100 crore at the Indian Box Office, after excluding Entertainment
tax into account. The origin of the term ‘100 Crore Club’ dates back
to the year 2008, when Amir Khan and Asin Thottumkal starrer
‘Ghajini’ earned more than 100 crores within the span of a few days. As of July
2012, 13 Bollywood films have joined the 100 Crore Club. Aamir Khan's film
Ghajini that hit the silver screen in the year 2008 was the first Bollywood
film to cross the 100 crore nett collections at the Indian Box Office and is
known to lay the foundation of this Exclusive club. His luck
favored him one more time and he got an opportunity to make it to the club
with 3 Idiots which became the second Hindi film to
enter this prestigious club. It did not take much time for Salman Khan to
enter the club. He became the second India actor to enter the
club with Dabangg, Ready, Bodyguard, Ek Tha
Tiger and Dabangg 2.
The producers of Bodyguard
pride as Salman Khan starrer Bodyguard entered this club the fastest in just 7
days of release. Ajay Devgan was the third Bollywood actor who
made it to this league with Golmaal 3 and soon followed
by Singham and Bol Bachchan. One of the most
popular actors of Indian Cinema, Shahrukh Khan managed
to get an entry into this league in late 2011 with Ra.One followed
by Don 2. The next Indian actor who got the huge honor of being a
part of 100 Crore Club is none other than Hrithik Roshan. In
the very beginning of 2012 Hrithik Roshan joined the league with one of the
most successful movies of his career ‘Agneepath’. Akshay Kumar joined
this esteemed club with the release of Sajid Khan directed Housefull
2 and Prabhu Deva directed Rowdy Rathore.
The net collection garnered
by high grossing Indian movies does not include Entertainment
tax levied on Indian films by various Indian states. While a majority of Indian
film-makers work assiduously to make it possible to this most desirable club as
soon as possible, many critics and other members from Indian
film-fraternity term 100 Crore Club a complete whim. It is quite an
uphill task for a common man to understand the significance of the number game
and Hundred Crore Club. To simply it further, one can assumes it as
a Business model that signifies the market and capital value
of the film. For the business point of view, the 100 Crore Club is something
that includes Indian films raking in maximum amount at the Indian Box Office.
It is important because the total earnings are considered after paying
Entertainment tax that can be as high as 30%. Not only this, but the money made
overseas is also not taken into consideration. Besides this it does not take
into account other revenue streams that flow in from Satellite rights,
music and Digital rights also. Some Bollywood experts believe
that it is just that the 100 Crore Mark has replaced what
the Silver jubilee used to be a few decades ago. Today, a 100
Crore Club is like a milestone and brings a huge honor to actors as well as
makers who become part of a film with that kind of stupendous collections. It
has perhaps become a trend in Bollywood more than a benchmark.
Today, it is aspirations of every single film-maker to be a part of the elite
100 Crore Club. Find below a list containing details on Indian films that have
